Southend Playwriting Festival 2014
Essex’s only new playwriting festival, now in its fourth year, is bigger than ever and runs over 3 evenings at the Cramphorn Theatre. This year over 400 entries from around the world were received making the quality of this year’s programme superb! Every evening brings a mix of comedy and drama performed by Full Circle Theatre.
Sunday 9 February
Conchiglia – the tragic story of Ruth Ellis’s son Andy.
The Visit – a befriender visits an elderly housebound lady but who needs the help?
Jam – stuck on the M25 in a jam, what are they doing in the car next to you!
Burnt Out – how would you feel caught up in a riot..?
Monday 10 February
Obvious Guilt – a comic murder mystery.
Hideout – two soldiers await rescue.
Skeleton – what do you do when your daughter won’t eat?
Remember Remember 1605 – Guy Fawkes trial revisited.
Tuesday 11 February
Sanctuary – WW2 drama, a German officer and his lover try to flee Germany, but who will give them sanctuary?
Mountains – “so you wouldn’t climb the highest mountain for me?”
Deckchairs – on the Titanic!
Saffron Jack – what does it mean to be a ruler in a world of your own making..?
And why not stay after the show for a Q&A discussion with the writers, actors and directors?
