Chelmsford Borough Council aims to provide an effective and efficient domestic refuse collection service to all residents of the borough. Please assist us to empty your wheeled bin by making sure that it is at the front of your property nearest to the highway. The bin must be out by 7am on your scheduled collection day. When putting your bin out please do not obstruct the pavement as this may cause a hazard to others. Black Bin Collections
Black bins are collected weekly throughout the year. All waste must be placed in the wheeled bin with the lid shut. This ensures that the bin can be safely lifted onto the rear of the refuse vehicle, and prevents spillages occurring. Refuse not in the bin will be classified as side waste and not collected. We provide an assisted refuse collection service which is only available for those who need help. For insurance purposes, we are only allowed to empty wheelie bins which are supplied by ourselves. For more information on refuse bin sizes, please go to the Refuse Bin Policy document. Your black bin will not be emptied if it contains any of the following: Garden waste, to be placed only in the brown bin Builders waste or asbestos Gas bottles or clinical waste - Fertiliser, pesticides, paint, motor oils or other chemicals
Large bulky items, car batteries If the bin is to heavy If anything is placed on the lid such as cardboard boxes etc If the bin is not on your boundary (Does not apply to assisted bins)
