The Sports Development Unit regularly runs a day of dance taster sessions for children during school holidays. The next Dance! event will take place on Thursday 16 February 2012 Experienced dance teachers will give the children a taster of a number of dance genres, including Musical Theatre, Disco, Street and more... Children aged 4 to 6, can choose three classes from six which take place between 10am to 12.45pm. Parents are asked to stay if their child requires assistance with going to the toilet.
Children aged 7 to 9 can attend up to three classes from 1.15pm to 4pm. Children aged 10 to 13 can attend up to three classes from 1.15pm to 4pm. The price is £9 in total whether doing one, two or three classes. Dance! Timetable| Time | Dance Studio 1 | Dance Studio 2 |

The booking form will be available once the programme is ready; please do not use the general Holiday Courses booking form. In person: You can drop your booking form and payment into the Civic Centre Reception. Payment can be made by cheque, postal order or card. No cash please. Opening hours are Monday to Thursday 8.45am to 4.45pm and Friday 8.45am to 4.15pm. Please note that Reception opens at 10am on the last Wednesday of the month. Dance! October 2011; something for the younger children
On Thursday 27 October the Sports Development Unit ran Dance! for children aged 4 to 11.
For children aged 7 to 11 there were 6 different classes to choose from in the morning. Over 30 children put on their dancing shoes to try out classes such as Break Dance, Street and Zumba.
Classes for those aged 4 to 6 sold out within days of going on sale, with extra classes added to satisfy demand.Children could take part in up to 3 classes, with Disco and Ballet being most popular.

Dance! February 2011 massively popular Following the success of the adult's Day of Dance and subsequent demand for a children's event, Chelmsford Borough Council's Sports Development Unit ran a fun and exciting event called Dance! for children of school age during February Half Term at The Boswells School in Springfield. For children in school years 3 - 6 there were 6 different classes to choose from in the morning, and for those in school years 7 - 11 there were 6 slightly differing classes in the afternoon. All classes were delivered by qualified local dance teachers and schools, who could let you know where you can take part in your favourite classes on a regular basis. Over 60 children made came along to try their hand at the dances, with many going on to take up the classes on a more regular basis. The classes catered for all tastes, with Zumba, Street and Cheerleading being the most popular.
