As a result an estimated £50 000 will be raised for Sports Relief.

The event kicked off with an Aerobics warm up for the participants to get them in the mood. This set the tone for the day which was characterised by fantastic weather and big smiles. There was entertainment provided for spectators by Chelmsford City Football in the Community who ran a penalty shoot out competition

The race was started by Anne Wafula-Strike a Paralympian Wheelchair Racer and member of Team GB. Anne also took part in the event and made time to talk to runners and walkers about her sport.

Other distinguished participants included Eddy the Eagle the Mascot of Essex County Cricket Club, Batman, Harry Potter and various other clowns, pirates and princesses. The event attracted young and old alike with many families taking part and a number of toddlers seen doing their bit.

A special mention goes to St Johns School in Danbury who brought 52 of their pupils to the event.

BBC Essex were great supporters of the event providing Sadie Nine one of their midweek DJ.s to encourage the crowd and commentate on the race.
