Riverside Ice and Leisure operates an ice programme with a wide range of sessions, including general public and family public sessions, to ensure all users are able to benefit from the ice rink. Session times, prices and additional information is valid from 1 April 2010 to 31 March 2011. Some of the ice rink sessions run throughout the year, and some only operate during Essex County Council school term time or holiday dates (see customer notices page for dates) or other specific time periods. During Bank Holiday dates, the centre will run the holiday programme although the centre's opening hours may vary from the standard (see customer notices). Please read through the following carefully including the important information section. Ice Rink Closure for refurbishment - updated 27 August 2010Due to the need to carry out extra work on the ice pad there will be a delay to opening the new facility. The provisional date for the public re-opening of the ice rink is Tuesday 5 October. Chelmsford Borough Council regrets this delay; however, this represents a long term investment in the ice facility confirming the Council's commitment to maintaining a first-class facility for residents in Chelmsford and Essex. 1. General Public Sessions We want you to enjoy your time at the centre no matter how good you are at ice-skating. To ensure that everyone is able to use the ice rink safely, the centre operates a number of sessions that are publicly accessible to all. Ice skates are available to hire (from child size 7 upwards). The general public session uses a price that does not include skate hire. Please ensure that you ask for skate hire in addition if you require it, which is £2.20 per pair of skates. Spectator admission is £1.90.
2. Other Ice Sessions For information on specific sessions (targeted at specific groups of customers and not everyone) such Patch, Disco, After School, Holiday skate sessions please either refer to the full ice rink programme page or specific individual pages.
3. Important Information If you do not own your own pair of ice skates, the centre has these available to hire (for a small fee unless otherwise stated). Please ask for one size above your normal shoe size e.g. if you are a size 6, please ask for a size 7. Make sure that you bring socks along with you if you are not already wearing some. Strobe, flashing and / or flickering lights; as well as loud music operate as part of the effects during some ice sessions and events. Please note that at certain times part of the ice may be coned off for private tuition, private parties and / or holiday courses. Spectators are charged the full admission price (rather than spectator rate) during all 'disco sessions' (Deep Ice Groove, Zero Degrees and Meltdown, Afternoon Disco sessions on Saturday and Sunday). This excludes adults accompanying children under 14 years, who will be charged at the normal spectator rate. During all other sessions the standard spectator rate applies. Please make sure that you have checked the customer notices section (link on right) to see if there are any planned closures / time changes for this area which may affect your visit. The Ice-Skating Programme changes during Essex County Council term & school time dates. Please note that during busy periods entry to sessions may be subject to delay due to large queues.
