Take a journey through Chelmsford's streets and join the celebration of the Arts! Saturday 11 September - Sunday 26 September 2010 The 2010 Chelmsford Arts Trail will be hitting the town's streets again in September. Over 40 artists will showcase their work in a wide range of venues throughout the town centre, including a collective exhibition within contemporary gallery Interior Angle. An anonymous art postcard sale will be held once again, following its success in 2009 enabling visitors to purchase a mini original piece of art.
 The Chelmsford Arts Trail transforms shops and organisations, including High Chelmer Shopping Centre, into mini galleries exhibiting a collection of work from local artists. The Trail is a free opportunity to view a vibrant mix of contemporary art, including installation and textiles, sculpture, photography, painting, prints, illustration and ceramics. Most of the work is for sale so art lovers can buy local art at affordable prices.
The Arts Trail in 2009 saw over 6,000 visitors walk the route, bringing an exciting vibrancy to the town. A series of 'Art Stops' around Chelmsford town centre were created and curated by local artists in partnership with local businesses. Chelmsford Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture, Councillor Ray Ride said: "The Chelmsford Arts Trail innovatively generates and promotes cultural activity within the borough. It offers inclusive arts activities and I'm sure will inspire all who visit it. This 16-day event provides the town with an annual public exhibition that celebrates the wealth of artistic activity originating from this area." Calling all artists and venues Use the Chelmsford Arts Trail to help raise the profile of your work! Activate - Chelmsford's visual art group, will be providing networking opportunities and activities to support your professional development as part of the Arts Trail in 2010. The Chelmsford Arts Trail will reveal a number of emerging artists destined for future success in the art world. Interior Angle art design gallery will be offering a lucky artist the opportunity to submit their work to be showcased at a prestigious national art fair. An exhibition within the gallery will also take place throughout September in celebration of the Arts Trail. Invitation to artists and exhibiting businesses Artists with a strong connection to Chelmsford and surrounding areas are invited to submit proposals for new or existing works to be exhibited in the Chelmsford Arts Trail from 11 to 26 September in various venues throughout the town centre. Work exhibited can include photography, ceramics, sculpture, textile, installation, collage, drawing, film, painting, print making and stained glass. The deadline for all submissions is Wednesday 10 March 2010. Interested town centre businesses and venues should also contact the Chelmsford Borough Council before Tuesday 30 March.
