Core Strategy Adoption

The preparation process for the Core Strategy and Development Control Policies Document covers several stages - Evidence Gathering, Issues and Options, Preferred Options, Submission, Examination and Adoption.

On 20 February 2008 Chelmsford Borough Council formally adopted the Core Strategy and Development Control Policies DPD. This follows the document being declared 'Sound' by an Independent Planning Inspector in his Report published on 11 February 2008.

 The Adopted Core Strategy

What is the Adopted Core Strategy?

The Core Strategy and Development Control Policies DPD (Core Strategy for short) forms part of the Local Development Framework (LDF) for Chelmsford Borough and sets out the vision, objectives, spatial strategy and overarching policies to guide development in the Borough to 2021. It also sets out the policies against which all planning applications will be assessed.

The adopted Core Strategy comprises the Submission Core Strategy and Development Control Policies Development Plan Document (published November 2006) with the modifications contained in the Report of the Inspector following the Independent Examination of the document in 2007.
