Tetra Pak

Chelmsford Borough Council, in conjunction with Tetra Pak Ltd and the carton industry body ACE UK (Alliance for Beverage Cartons and the Environment), has launched a beverage carton recycling scheme throughout Chelmsford to give residents the opportunity to recycle even more of their household waste.

Each year, UK beverage carton manufacturers produce approximately 55,000 tonnes of paper-based cartons for milk, juice, sauces and other liquid foods/drinks. These cartons have to be recycled separately because they are made up of three different types of material, card, foil and plastic. Image depicting Tetra paks

Currently, Tetra Pak cartons can now be recycled through special collection banks at the following sites:

  • Riverside Ice and Leisure Centre, Victoria Road, Chelmsford, CM1 1FG
  • Chelmer Park, Beehive Lane, Galleywood, CM2 8RL
  • ASDA, Queen Elizabeth II Square, South Woodham Ferrers, CM3 5SY
  • Well Lane, Danbury, CM3 4AB
  • The Co-op Car Park, 17 Bridge Street, Writtle, CM1 3DZ

What are my cartons recycled into?
