The Chelmsford Theatres are owned, managed, and funded by Chelmsford Borough Council through the Arts and Entertainments' Service of the Council's Leisure and Cultural Services. Civic TheatreThe Civic Theatre is a 505 seat auditorium which offers a varied programme of large scale professional, touring and amateur events throughout the year, from classical drama and dance to an eclectic musical programme and all time family favourites. The Civic Theatre prides itself on its friendly, welcoming atmosphere and ability to appeal to everyone through a diverse programme of high quality theatre. Cramphorn TheatreThe Cramphorn Theatre (adjoining the Civic) is an intimate studio theatre seating up to 177 and presents a programme of smaller scale professional touring theatre, music productions, dance and lunchtime concerts, as well as being renowned for its innovative mixture of art house, world and mainstream film screenings. Look out for The Cramphorn, live music nights, which showcase the best local bands on the first Saturday of every month.
