Celebrate Chelmsford - Time Running Out to Take Part

Time is running out for people to get involved in 'Celebrate Chelmsford' - described as "the biggest event programme the town has ever seen" by Chelmsford Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture, Councillor Christopher Kingsley.

During May, June and July, a thrilling and absorbing series of events will take place as part of this new initiative which is being co-ordinated and promoted by Chelmsford Borough Council. The purpose of the programme is to showcase the best of what the borough and its community have to offer in the lead up to the 21st World Scout Jamboree, which will be hosted in Hylands Park for 12 days between 27 July and 8 August.

People only have until mid-February to contact Chelmsford Borough Council with their ideas for big or small events that they would like to organise and include as part of the Celebrate Chelmsford line up. Individuals, community groups and businesses can all get involved.

The Council has already received over 20 new event submissions ranging from sporting and music events to a food and drink festival. As well as community events like these, the programme will feature long-running summer highlights such as The Chelmsford Beer Festival, Race for Life, The Cathedral Festival and ESSEXstreetdiversions, the international festival of street theatre.

The Council also wants to hear from people with their views or questions about Celebrate Chelmsford, or the World Scout Jamboree - the global event that inspired Celebrate Chelmsford.

Celebrate Chelmsford is managed by Chelmsford Borough Council and made possible with thanks to The Essex Chronicle, Essex FM, The Printing Place, Meadows Shopping Centre, High Chelmer Shopping Centre, Chelmsford Star Coop, Quadrant department store and the Institute of Health and Social Care.
