Win Money for Recycling old Yellow Pages

Three lucky residents could each win £50 by recycling their old Yellow Pages directories at supermarkets across the borough from 8 September for six weeks.

Chelmsford Borough Council's recycling team, the Yellow Pages Directory Recycling Scheme and local supermarkets are hoping to build on the success of last year's programme, when residents recycled more than three tonnes of directories.

To be in with a chance of winning £50 in the prize draw, householders simply need to write their name and address on the front cover of the old directory and drop it in the secure Yellow Pages branded recycling bins at one of the following participating supermarkets:

ASDA – Village Gate, Chelmer Village

ASDA – QEII Square, South Woodham Ferrers

Sainsburys – White Hart Lane, Boreham

Somerfield – Dickens Place, Newland Springs

Tesco – Springfield Road, Chelmsford

Tesco – Wood Street, Widford

The Cabinet Member for Strategic Housing and the Environment, Councillor Duncan Lumley said, "To show we are serious about recycling, this year we have purchased dedicated Yellow Pages bins that are bright and easy to see and the Council has installed them at various supermarkets across the borough. This will give people a chance to recycle their old directories at the same time as doing their weekly shopping and they could even win £50."

Used Yellow Pages can also be recycled in the cardboard bins at the Essex County Council Civic Recycling Centres at Drovers Lane, Boreham and Ferrers Road, South Woodham Ferrers.

Chelmsford Borough Council cannot collect old Yellow Pages in the paper or cardboard sack from residential homes, as it is recycled into different materials in a separate process.

If you have any enquiries, please contact the Council's recycling team on 01245 606594, or the Civic Amenity hotline on 0845 603 7625.
