Informal User (Focus) Groups The Council's four sports centres and sports development unit run an extensive programme of user group sessions. These are aimed at providing our customers and hirers with the opportunity to help us improve the day to day operation of the services and facilities that we offer. The sessions cover a number of topics including pricing, programming, quality of service, access and marketing. For the latest dates & times of the sports user groups, please see the relevant page under related articles. Contact details (telephone numbers and email addresses) are also listed for those interested in participating. Information on key issues raised and proposed actions as a result of these are available as downloads.
Older People Physical Activity Participation Survey 2008 During 2008 Chelmsford Borough Council asked local people's views to help them in improving the sports provision for older people. With nearly 45,000 people over the age of 55 years in the Borough, older people make up 28% of the Borough's total population. The consultation exercise aimed to assess the current and future physical activity needs for Chelmsford. This contributed to a complete review of all activities designed for older people that the Council delivers through its four sports centres. This survey is now closed. Please see relevant page under related articles for a summary of the results. As a result of the findings, the Council now has an Adults & Older Persons Activity Co-ordinator in post who is currently involved in setting up some new and exciting activities at the Council's four sports centres and in community venues across the Borough.
Sport & Recreation Strategy 2006 - 2010 The consultation on both the Arts Strategy (Don't sit on your arts) & Sports Strategies 2006-2010 ran concurrently for one month from 9 May in 2006. The consultation exercise provided stakeholders (general public, partner organisations, local clubs and schools) with the opportunity to indicate what the Council should focus on over the next few years in terms of sport & recreation and arts provision. Thank you to all who commented. Please see related articles for links to the final version and consultation results.
